[vimeo=http://vimeo.com/4400986 w=475&h=300]

Here is the final post from the Release Party DVD.  This last video gives you the back story of how the joint This Way featuring Kanye West came about, and how this record was the gift and the curse for Dilated Peoples.  I hope you enjoyed this three part post of Dilated People’s Release Party DVD, and make sure you cop the DVD here.  Peace.

Here is the second video from the Release Party DVD that I promised yall.  In this video you learn how the Third Degree video came about, and how DJ Babu becomes the final member of Dilated Peoples.

If you don’t know much about DJ Babu, he is apart of the Beat Junkies DJ Crew and together with rapper Defari forms the duo Likwit Junkies.  He was won many DJ competitions over the years including the Vestax World Championship.  Last year he released Duck Season Vol.3, so if you get a chance to check the CD out make sure you do.

Enjoy the video.

Release Party DVD: The Beginning of Dilated Peoples

[vimeo=http://vimeo.com/4400507 w=475&h=300]

With another exclusive rip out of my DVD vaults, today I will be bringing you a couple of scenes from the Dilated Peoples Release Party DVD.  Directed by Jason Goldwatch, this DVD gives you the story of Dilated Peoples from the beginning all the way to the present.

The first scene that I have posted for you today describes how Evidence & Rakaa came together to form Dilated Peoples (pre DJ Babu).  In a fun fact, The Alchemist was actually the one who gave them the name, Dilated Peoples.

I will be posting two more scenes from this DVD later tonight, and please make sure you cop this if you like to see the whole documentary.  Enjoy the video.

The Making of Liquid Swords

The good people over at Wax Poetics have posted an online article giving you great insight on how the classic album Liquid Swords was put together.  GZA gives you detailed information for each track from this classic album.  This is a definite great read and special thanks to Wax Poetics for bringing this article out for all Hip Hop fans.

A few days ago I put up Bad Boy Mixtape Volume Four (courtesy of On Smash), and today I’m bringing you Bad Boy Mixtape Volume One out of my personal collection.  I ripped this cassette a year ago and totally forgot about it since then.  Today when going through my old CD R’s, I came across the files for it.

Bad Boy Mixtape Volume One is probably my favorite out of the series.  DJ Clue held it down on this volume and Puff Daddy did all the hosting.  The later Bad Boy mixtapes did not have Puff Daddy involvement like this one which is too bad because I felt he brought some extra to the mixtape.  I hope you enjoy this great release.  Grab after the jump.

Rakim Interview With Up And Up TV

[vimeo=http://vimeo.com/4254953 w=475&h=300]

Rakim sits down with QN5’s Substantial to bring you a great interview.  Rakim speaks how he got into the music by crediting his family.  Later on in the interview he speaks on Nas, and how Nas would come to the studio when Rakim would be recording music for his albums.  Rakim feels people today should support “real hip hop” and know what “real hip hop” is, but at the same time be supportive of the other types of hip hop that is in game today.  Much respect to the God MC Rakim!

Make sure you check out Up and Up TV for many great interviews and video segments.

DJ Doo Wop – Best of Doo Wop Freestyle Sessions (1995)

Here is a classic DJ Doo Wop release consisting of all the great freestyles that were exclusively done for him.  Back in the day Doo Wop was receiving great freestyles from your favorite New York artist.  Back then the DJ / Rapper relationship was still going strong and rappers were doing freestyles for DJ’s just out of respect.  Unfortunately today if you expect to receive a freestyle from any of these “high profile” artists expect to bring your check book.  None the less this a great CD, and special thanks to Dirt_Dog of Phila Flava for releasing this joint to the masses.  Grab after the jump.

A Tribe Called Quest – Final Performance [Live Audio] (1999)

Going through more of my hard drive I came across this A Tribe Called Quest CD which is their final live performance back in 1999 (though they reunited for the 2008 Rock The Bells).  They run through a lot of their classic joints including Award Tour, Buggin Out, Electric Relaxation and Scenario.  The sound quality is not the greatest, but it is still listenable.  Grab after the jump.  Enjoy.

DJ Doo Wop – Summer 96 Mixtape

“What’s up yall, what you got to say? Who’s on the tape with the hot DJ!?” Summer 96 Mixtape is a classic (in my eyes) coming from the bounce masta himself  – DJ Doo Wop.  You got exclusives freestyles from Busta Rhymes, Lord Finesse, Boot Camp Clique, Ed Lover & Sadaat X.  This is the definitely of an authentic mixtape as you got exclusives from rappers, great songs, and a great DJ to bring everything together.  Man Doo Wop, we need another mixtape from you soon fam.  Time to show these youngin’s what a true mixtape is all about! Grab this after the jump.

This is not my personal mixtape rip.  Thanks to 4HM for supplying this mixtape.
