This one is for the producers. Director Nelson George documents the monumental impact of the Roland TR-808 drum machine. Introduced by Roland in early 1980, the TR-808 later went on to shape the sound of hip-hop, and help create the Miami bass genre. Long out of production, you can still find a TR-808 on eBay, but with a high price tag attached to it. The Roland TR-808 has been used by such producers as Kanye West, Dr. Dre, Jermaine Dupri and DJ Premier.
